Places to visit

A visit to Murcia is a must, and the city with it’s wonderful Cathedral and buildings is only 30 minutes away. Like many Spanish towns, Murcia has an abundance of lovely squares and excellent restaurants and tapas bars are readily available.

Alicante ...join the Spanish as they promenade the Explanada de Espana,or simply sit, take a drink and watch the world go by.....Also Alicante renown for it's Tapas bars...wonderful city for exploring and for a night out. The castle and the old quarter are well worth a visit and some of the finest tapas bars in all of Spain are to be found in and around this area.

Guardamar...some 20 minutes north of Rio Mar lies the very Spanish resort of Gurdamar de la Segura. The promenade offers numerous bars and fish restaurants alongside the miles of sandy beach. There are beautiful, protected areas of sand dunes and a lovely park, with lively market on summer evenings.

The towns of Oriheula, Cartegena and Elche, with its wonderful gardens, are all worthy of a visit, and the conservation area around Calblanque, close to La Manga, offers a stunning coastline and wonderful beaches. Cabo de Palos is a lighthouse beyond Calblanque and situated just before you enter La Manga. There are beautiful, rocky coves and the harbour area is fantastic for lunch, with a variety of restaurants serving the freshest of fish. .sit overlooking the harbour, relax and enjoy.

"As a very busy single mum with 2 children Henny and Hugh our trip from Bournemouth to Mil palmeras is so easy. It is quicker and more civilised for us than a trip to London. We visit on a regular basis in April and October when the temperature is just perfect. The apartments we have stayed in are all set up for our every need. It is great to have the pool on site and being only a short walk away from the very clean and safe beach we have never felt the need to venture elsewhere by hire car. All the restaurants and tapas bars we visit are friendly and welcome the children. The food is good, inexpensive and suits our various tastes. We feel very much a part of the local culture. It is the Perfect restful break for us all. "

P.S I also like the chineese restaurant as they balance champagne glasses at least 10 at once. Magic!

"I love it as I meet with a German friend. We are penfriends and I hope to visit her in Germany. The Bar Madrid (now Los celtas) is where I get spoilt by Suzie the waitress, she lets us go into the kitchen to choose our special ice cream dessert. "
